Steven Gerrard is good enough to still be playing and would WALK into his own Rangers side, according to his former Liverpool team-mate Danny Murphy.
The Reds legend, and current Gers boss, showed he’s still got it as he ran the show and scored a last-minute winner in a game against AC Milan legends this weekend.
Gerrard was back playing alongside a host of Liverpool‘s iconic figures, including Robbie Fowler, Ian Rush, Luis Garcia, Dirk Kuyt, Sami Hyypia, Jamie Carragher and Steve McManaman.
But it was the Champions League-winning skipper who was pulling all the strings once again in a Reds shirt, as the Anfield faithful delighted in their hero’s return.
Speaking on talkSPORT on Monday, Murphy says his friend and former team-mate is easily good enough to play in the Rangers team he manages – and wouldn’t put it past him to score a winner against Old Firm rivals Celtic, either!
“From what I saw of him at the weekend, he would – with a little bit of tweaking – walk into that Rangers team,†Murphy told Jim White.
“He’d run it. He’s boss it. He’d be humble and say no… but he’s still in his 30s!
“If he put his boots on against Celtic, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest if they won and he got the winner.
“That’s just what he does!â€
