The official opening comes after months of delays as the stadium was meant to be ready in September.

Tottenham’s Under-18s played at the ground when they beat Southampton 3-1 on Sunday in the first of two Test Events required for it to fully open.

In a bid to get used to their new surroundings, Mauricio Pochettino arranged a training session at the state of the art arena.

On Thursday, Tottenham tweeted a video of the first-team training on their new pitch with the caption ‘Look who’s here… #SpursNewStadium #COYS’.

Tottenham face a daunting trip to Premier League title challengers Liverpool this weekend before hosting Palace.

A run of three defeats from four league games has seen Spurs dragged into the race for a top-four spot. They are just three points ahead of fifth placed Manchester United.

In December, Tottenham defender Danny Rose expressed his discontent with playing home games at Wembley, saying it’s ‘just not nice anymore’.

The national stadium had been the club’s temporary home since the start of last season.

Tottenham’s stars can now look forward to playing in their new 62,062-seater stadium in less than a week.

James Milner did not disappoint when asked how he would be celebrating Liverpool’s Champions League success.

The Reds beat Tottenham 2-0 in Madrid to secure their sixth victory in the competition.

The 33-year-old came on as a substitute for Georgino Wijnaldum in the 62nd minute and was unlucky not to start the match.

Milner was asked live on BT Sport on what his tipple of choice would be that evening.

Reporter Des Kelly said: “I remember asking you after you got through in Rome if you’d have a glass of red and you said you would take a cheeky Ribena. What’s it tonight?”

James Milner said: “It might have to be something fizzy and go a bit exotic. Lime and lemonade or something.”

He joined on a free transfer from Manchester City in 2015 and has gone on to play an important role in Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Winning the Champions League means he has won just about everything a footballer can in club football.

Milner also is not afraid of self-deprecation as is shown by some of his hilarious tweets.

However, reports suggest it is Premier League rivals Arsenal who are leading the race for his signature.

According to Tutto Mercato, the Gunners are ahead of Roma, Juventus and the Red Devils to get the 25-year-old.

The Giallorossi have retained a strong interest in Umtiti as speculation around the future of Kostas Manolas continues to swirl.

Lionel Messi scored 51 goals in all competitions for Barcelona this season, but was powerless to stop Liverpool’s march to Champions League glory – something his son likes to remind him about

It was the second season in a row the LaLiga club have been knocked out of the Champions League despite having a three goal first leg lead.

And Messi has revealed in an interview that his son, Mateo, likes to remind him of that Liverpool defeat in addition to the Copa del Rey final defeat to Valencia.

“Thiago never misses a match,” Messi told TyC Sports. “Mateo loves football, he wears all the shirts.

“We were playing at home and he said to me, ‘I’m Liverpool, who beat you’; ‘Valencia won, eh – I’m Valencia’.

“The TV is there, and he cheers Madrid’s goals to annoy his brother. He’s the one who is a Madrid fan.”

The interview even caught the eye of former Real Madrid defender Alvaro Arbeloa who tweeted ‘let’s get it signed’ in response to the Messi interview video.

The Argentina international is currently preparing for the Copa America, having ended the domestic season with just one trophy – the Spanish Liga title.

Gareth Bale’s time in Madrid has turned sour

Former Spurs ace Gareth Bale, is one player who has consistently been linked with a move to the club, while Jadon Sancho has also been the subject of speculation in recent weeks.

Solskjaer has done exceptionally well with a squad which was underperforming at the end of Jose Mourinho’s tenure so many United fans will be salivating at the thought of what he can do with some big transfers.

A right-back seems a must with Antonio Valencia leaving and Ashley Young ageing, while another midfielder wouldn’t go a miss bearing in mind how poor Fred has been since his big money move to the club.

But who are the most likely transfer in at Manchester United this summer? Find out the odds below.

Players Under 10/1 to sign for Manchester United

Aaron Wan-Bissaka – 2/1

Gareth Bale – 2/1

Jadon Sancho – 3/1

David Brooks – 7/2

Toni Kroos – 4/1

Memphis Depay – 5/1

Mauro Icardi – 11/2

Isco – 6/1

Declan Rice – 7/1

Maxi Gomez – 7/1

Paulo Dybala – 13/2

Raphael Varane – 7/1

Philippe Coutinho – 8/1

Callum Hudson-Odoi – 9/1

Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek: “Despite the managerial change, there is little to suggest that the club are any closer to appointing that elusive Director of Football, so there seems little reason to expect a change to the transfer strategy.

“Given that Bale would come with a massive price tag and is 29 years-old, it’s not shocking to see him top the market.”
