Ever since Manchester United decided not to compete in the FA Cup in 2000, fans have questioned if the magic of the competition still exists.
Holders United withdrew from the competition in the 1999/00 season to compete in the FIFA Club World Cup Championship in South America.
While there have been many memorable moments since then (the incredible Steven Gerrard Cup Final in 2006 for instance) there is not perhaps the same level of prestige.
In order to combat this, the FA have added financial incentives to encourage teams to take the oldest cup competition in the world more seriously.
The winners of this year’s competition will earn almost £7million, with the payday for the final itself standing at £3.6million.
What that means is the amount will accrued throughout the earlier rounds as the prize money this season has been doubled.
It is then increased at every round until the final, where there is even added money for the losers of the semi-final.
The final four teams in the competition will face off over the weekend for a place in the final and there is a chance for a shock name to carve their name onto the trophy.
With Brighton, Wolves, Watford and Manchester City competing this weekend, there is also a chance for every side to earn an incredible amount of money. Check out how much even the semi-final losers will make this weekend.
