But when will the Lilywhites finally return home, and who will be their first opponents at the new stadium?

talkSPORT.com reveals all, below…

When does the stadium open?

Tottenham will play their first match at their new stadium on April 3.

The stadium must host the two Test Events to be awarded the correct safety certificates, and both of these took place over the past couple of weeks.

The first, an Under-18s match, was played on March 24, while the second – Spurs Legends vs Inter Forever – took place on March 30.

Who are the first opponents at the ground?

It has been confirmed Crystal Palace will be the first team Tottenham play at their new home.

The Eagles and Brighton were the two potential debut opponents due to their progression to the FA Cup quarter-finals, but Palace were knocked out the Cup by Watford while Brighton made it through to the semi-finals.

This resulted in the Palace fixture being scheduled for April 3, with Brighton visiting the ‘Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’ later that same month.

Will Tottenham play their Champions League matches at the stadium?

UEFA have granted Tottenham permission to play their remaining Champions League home fixtures at the ground.

Spurs played all their group matches at Wembley, as well as the home leg of their round of 16 defeat of Borussia Dortmund.

However, the ‘Tottenham Hotspur Stadium’ will host Spurs’ home quarter-final clash with Manchester City, as well as a potential semi-final, should the north Londoners reach that stage of the competition.

How many games will be played at the stadium this season?

The new stadium is guaranteed to host at least six matches this season.

Tottenham have five home Premier League matches remaining, as well as the Champions League quarter-final against Manchester City.

Should Spurs progress to the semi-finals of Europe’s premier cup competition, the stadium will host an extra game – taking the total to seven.
