Scott Parker EXCLUSIVE: Fulham caretaker wants permanent manager job and aspires to be on same level as Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp

Scott Parker has told talkSPORT he wants to continue as Fulham manager next season, but is yet to discuss his future with the relegated club̢۪s owners.

The interim boss, who replaced Claudio Ranieri in February, has boosted his chances of landing the permanent job by guiding the Cottagers to back-to-back Premier League wins over Everton and Bournemouth.

According to reports Parker has the full support of his dressing room, with Fulham players apparently keen for the former captain to remain in charge in the Championship next season.

While he could not prevent the club̢۪s relegation from the top flight, with the damage done long before he arrived, Parker has lifted the mood at Craven Cottage and has got the team fighting again.

The former England international is eager to continue his good work at Fulham, although admits he would be open to taking another job if the club̢۪s hierarchy decide to pursue other options.

He has revealed, though, that he has already begun to plan for the club̢۪s pre-season.

â€Å“I’m in regular dialogue with the owners, I’ve spoken with them numerous times, but regarding my future and where I am come the end of the season it’s not one we’ve discussed,” Parker said in an exclusive interview with talkSPORT host Jim White.

â€Å“We’ve discussed a lot of other stuff regarding signings and plans for pre-season. I said at the start, I will treat it as long-term, that’s the person I am in the sense that I plan everything I do.

â€Å“I do know one thing, I’ll leave this club in a better place, whether I’m here or not come the end of the season. I certainly will leave this club in a better place than it was.

â€Å“I’m ambitious. I want to be a football manager, that’s ultimately what I want.

â€Å“It’s taken me seven or eight years to get into this situation. I’ve worked hard, I’ve learned, I spent a year at Spurs last year.

â€Å“That’s my main aim. Whether that’s at Fulham come the end of the season or whether that’s on another path which my career takes me, then so be it.

â€Å“But certainly I want a career as a football manager.”

Parker also told talkSPORT he aspires to reach the same level at top Premier League bosses Pep Guardiola and Jurgen Klopp.

Both managers have won silverware at the top level and 38-year-old Parker says he willing to put in the hard work to achieve similar heights during his coaching career.

He added: â€Å“When I was a young player making my way in the game, I had other players to look up to and I thought, ‘I want to be as good as him, I want to be as good as Gazza’, and it’s the same now.

Parker is full of admiration for Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola

â€Å“Those people now are obviously the Guardiola’s and the Klopp’s of this world. It’s these people I look at.

â€Å“I understand how hard it is, but it’s these people I look at and study and think, ‘that’s where I want to get to’.

â€Å“But it’s going to be tough, I realise that.”
