Gillingham have sacked manager Steve Lovell with the club lying 13th in League One.
The Gills have won just once in their last five league games and have appointed Mark Patterson in temporary charge for the games against Charlton and Blackpool.
A statement on the club’s official website confirmed the former Wales international had been relieved of his duties.
It read; “After a discussion between the Chairman and Manager this afternoon, the Club can confirm that Steve Lovell has been relieved of his duties with immediate effect.
“Mark Patterson will take responsibility for the game against Charlton tomorrow, and Blackpool next week.
“The Club would like to thank Steve for his efforts with the team over the past 18 months and wish him well for the future.
“There will be no further comment at this stage.”
Gillingham have this afternoon confirmed that they have sacked manager Steve Lovell after 18 months in charge. The League One side have axed him with two games of the season remaining, he had a year remaining on his contract and leaves them 12th in the table.

The 56-year-old will begin his new role on June 1 and succeeds former manager Steve Lovell, who was sacked last month after 18 months in charge at Priestfield, with the team 12th in the table.
