Gareth Southgate wants England to go one step further at next years European Championships and told talkSPORT he is ready to unleash Callum Hudson-Odoi.
In Russia last summer, Southgate̢۪s exuberant and youthful squad defied critics to make it to the final four of the World Cup.
Despite some cynics believing they would not even make it out a group containing Panama and Tunisia, the Three Lions were just 22 minutes away from their first major final since 1966.
However, defeat to Croatia brought the nation crashing back down to earth after a summer where a nation dared to believe.
With the Nations League tournament to look forward to this summer, Southgate told talkSPORT̢۪s Ian Abrahams he wants to take his young side further.
â€Å“Firstly, it’s hugely exciting,†Southgate said. â€Å“Something we talked about at the beginning of this week because our first job is to make sure we are here and that gives us good focus for these qualifying games coming up.
â€Å“In terms of what next summer could  be, we were at a semi-final last summer,we are at a semi-final already this summer and we want to continue being consistently successful.
â€Å“And to challenge in the latter stages of those competitions and there is no reason this team can’t continue to improve – that’s got to be our goal, that’s got to be the way we work every day.
â€Å“So that’s our aim in terms of my own situation.
â€Å“I felt like a lot of things were exorcised last summer for me and frankly, it’s about the team and it’s about the country.
â€Å“It’s not about what it means individually to me – my job is to lead this group, lead the staff, lead the players.
â€Å“And I am enjoying that challenge.â€
While Jadon Sancho has taken Europe by storm at Borussia Dortmund, it has been a completely different story for Callum Hudson-Odoi.
The Chelsea winger has spent much of the season on the bench, apposition the 18-year-old is reluctant to stay in.
And with Bayern Munich and Dortmund reportedly ready to pounce on any uncertainties he has at Stamford Bridge, Southgate has warned the world he is ready to start an international game.

â€Å“I think he is really exciting,†Southgate added. â€Å“Obviously there has been a lot of focus and attention on Jadon, and rightly so.
â€Å“But Callum, throughout our age groups, has been at a similar level.
â€Å“And he has shown that in training this week. So I would have absolutely no hesitation in starting him in the game. He would be ready, no problem.â€
