Harry Redknapp has urged West Ham to ‘groom’ club captain Mark Noble to become a future Hammers manager.
Noble is the east London club’s longest-serving player by a mile, having first joined their youth academy in 2000, and has been dubbed ‘Mr West Ham’.
And, despite playing under eight managers during his Hammers career, he has remained a constant in the heart of the side.
Noble will be 34 when his current contract finishes, and Redknapp has insisted he should not be allowed to leave his boyhood club.
Instead, the former West Ham boss believes he should be given a coaching role to prepare him for the top job ‘one day’.
Speaking on Tuesday’s Sports Breakfast, Redknapp said: “I think one day down the line, why not?â€
“Mark a great lad, he’s been an excellent captain and he’s a leader in the dressing room.
“He’s the type of lad I can see one day [becoming West Ham manager].

“Why not promote from within in the future when you’ve got somebody like that? Why do you have to go and get another foreign manager?
“There’s a lad there who knows the game and knows the club inside out, why shouldn’t you groom him, put him on the staff and let him come through and eventually become manager?
“It would be great for West Ham.â€
And it appears fellow former Hammers boss Sam Allardyce agrees, as he replied: “Absolutely right, I’m 100 per cent behind that one.â€
