The nominees for the PFA Player of the Year awards has been announced – and there is no place for last year’s winner Mohamed Salah.
Manchester City, who are still on course for a domestic treble this season, have three players nominated, with Sergio Aguero, Raheem Sterling and Bernardo Silva included.
Aguero is the joint-top scorer in the league this term, having netted 19 goals so far this season – level with Salah.
England forward Sterling has also dazzled for the Citizens throughout the season, with 17 goals and nine assists in 30 matches.
And Bernardo Silva has been hugely impressive for Pep Guardiola’s title-chasing side, with him and Sterling both nominated for the PFA Young Player of the Year award too.
Liverpool have two players in the running for the award; Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane.
Van Dijk has been a rock in defence in his first full season for Jurgen Klopp’s side, contributing to a league-high 18 clean sheets.
While Mane has also enjoyed a blistering season on the left wing, netting 18 goals for the Reds this season.
There is no place for last year’s winner Salah on the list, despite the Egyptian netting a joint-high 19 goals this season.
Chelsea’s Eden Hazard tops off the six-man shortlist.
The Belgian, who won the award for the 2014/15 season, has once again been a standout performer for the Blues this season, netting 16 goals and adding 12 assists for Maurizio Sarri’s side.
