Adrian Durham believes Prince Harry and Meghan Markle should have named their first child ‘Raheem’.

The Manchester City midfielder was crowned the PFA Young Player of the Year last month after a fantastic season which has seen him score 17 Premier League goals.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have named their son Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

The couple’s @SussexRoyal Instagram account announced: “The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are pleased to announce they have named their first born child: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor.

“This afternoon Their Royal Highnesses introduced Her Majesty The Queen to her eighth great-grandchild at Windsor Castle. The Duke of Edinburgh and The Duchess’ mother were also present for this special occasion.”

But after a tremendous 12 months for Sterling, the talkSPORT Drive host believes the Royal Baby should have been named after the Manchester City forward.

“Here’s what they should have called the Royal Baby; Raheem,” Durham said.

“I think that would have been perfect. Given Raheem Sterling and everything he has done and everything he’s doing right now – what a statement that would have been.

“Would have been perfect, in my opinion.

“Archie? Little bit boring, sorry. You can call your baby what you want.

“They’ve announced it on Instagram, so go a little bit step further.”

The duke and duchess’ son arrived on Monday May 6 at 5.26am, weighing 7lb 3oz.

Harry said, when announcing the birth, that the baby’s late arrival had given them longer to decide on a name.

“The baby is a little bit overdue, so we’ve had a little bit of time to think about it,” he said.

Among the bookmakers’ favourites were Alexander, Arthur, Albert, as well as James and Philip, while Spencer was a late favourite, but Archie was a surprise choice.

And the talkSPORT host believes the royal duo have missed a trick. He added: “Well I would have preferred Raheem, but as long as the baby is happy and everybody is healthy then fine.

“Fine I suppose, stick with your boring names that are in the Top 10.”
